How to Insert a JPG in Microsoft Word

Inserting a JPG (or any image) into a Microsoft Word document is straightforward. Here’s a step-by-step guide:

Inserting a JPG in Microsoft Word:

  1. Open your Word document: Double-click on your Microsoft Word icon or open it from the Start menu or Applications folder, then open the document where you’d like to insert the JPG.
  2. Place your cursor: Click on the location in your document where you want the image to appear.
  3. Insert Tab: Go to the Insert tab at the top of the Word window.
  4. Picture Option:
    • Click on the Pictures button in the Illustrations group. This will open a dropdown menu.
    • Choose This Device... or Insert Picture from This Device... (the wording may vary depending on your version of Word).
  5. Select the JPG:
    • This will open a file browser window.
    • Navigate to the location on your computer where the JPG is saved.
    • Click on the JPG file to select it.
  6. Insert the JPG:
    • Click the Insert button (or double-click the image). The JPG will be inserted into your document where you placed your cursor.
  7. Adjust the JPG (if necessary):
    • Once the image is inserted, you can click on it to reveal additional options.
    • Use the handles around the image to resize it.
    • You can also move the image by clicking and dragging it.
    • The Format tab will appear at the top when the image is selected, giving you further options for formatting, including cropping, adding a border, and more.
