How to Terminate a Kaspersky Process

To terminate a Kaspersky process, you can follow these steps. However, it’s important to note that stopping antivirus processes can leave your system vulnerable to threats, so proceed with caution and only do so if it’s absolutely necessary.

  1. Using Task Manager:
    • Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
    • In the “Processes” tab, find the Kaspersky process (it may be listed as avp.exe or something similar).
    • Right-click on the process and select “End Task” or “End Process”.
  2. Using Command Prompt:
    • Press Windows Key + R, type cmd, and press Enter to open Command Prompt.
    • To stop a Kaspersky process, you can use the taskkill command. For example, if the process name is avp.exe, you would type taskkill /IM avp.exe /F and press Enter.
    • /F forcefully closes the process.
  3. Using Services:
    • Press Windows Key + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
    • Find the Kaspersky service in the list (it may have a name related to Kaspersky).
    • Right-click on the service and choose “Stop”.
  4. Via Kaspersky Interface:
    • Open the Kaspersky application.
    • Look for an option to disable or stop the antivirus temporarily. This option is usually available in the settings or protection center.
  5. Using System Configuration:
    • Press Windows Key + R, type msconfig, and press Enter.
    • Go to the “Services” tab.
    • Uncheck the Kaspersky service and click “OK”. This will prevent it from starting with Windows, but won’t stop it if it’s currently running.
  6. Safe Mode:
    • If you’re unable to stop the process in normal mode, you can restart your computer in Safe Mode where background services like Kaspersky typically don’t run.
    • From Safe Mode, you can perform actions that might be prevented by the antivirus in normal mode.
  7. Uninstalling Kaspersky:
    • If you need to permanently remove Kaspersky, you can do so through the Control Panel or Settings app under “Add or Remove Programs” or “Programs and Features”.

Remember, stopping or disabling your antivirus should only be done temporarily and for a specific purpose. Make sure to re-enable it as soon as possible to keep your system protected.
